Who can donate Blood?

Any healthy adult can donate blood. Men can donate at 3 month intervals while women can do so after every 6 months.

One should be above 45kgs in weight.

One should fall within the age group of 18 – 65 years.

One should not be suffering from any serious diseases

Pregnant and/or breastfeeding mothers should not be donating.
• Free health checkup! : A trained staff member checks your pulse, BP, Weight, etc.
• Reveals any potential diseases: Your blood undergoes a screening process for many diseases. In case you test positive for anything, early detection can help you get better sooner.

Before donating, make sure you ..
• Stay hydrated.
• Have a balanced meal.
• Have a good night sleep. Do not overwork.
• Lay off drinks and smoking.
• Increase the consumption of Iron rich foods.
• Avoid fatty foods.
• Inform the staff know if you are currently on medication.

• Relax: Keep a calm mind. You can also bring a book or listen to music while donating.

• Do not get up immediately after the process is over, rest for at least 5 – 7 minutes.
• Consume the refreshments given to you. Maintain a balanced diet for the next 24 hours and stay hydrated.
• Avoid strenuous activities.
• Lay off drinking and smoking for the next 24 hours (at least)
• Rest properly.
